I personally think this is the easiest language ever. The way you spelling the alphabeth is similar to German. They donīt have any difficult form....
Started with the numbers....
one = satu
two = dua
three = tiga
four = empat
five = lima
six = enam
seven = tujuh
eight = delapan
nine = sembilan
ten = sepuluh
eleven = sebelas
twelve = duabelas
thirteen = tigabelas
and so on....

The Subject
I = saya (to be use in very formal conversation, or an older person, a teacher, etc)
aku (to be use to the person we familiar with)
you = anda (in formal form)
kamu (in daily convorsation)
he, she = dia
we = kami
they = mereka

The Verb
the verb doesnīt have any specific form for each Subject...
for example....
study = belajar
I study biology = saya belajar biologi
He studies biology = dia belajar biologi
The verb really doesnīt have any change...

Past tense
with the same example....
yesterday = kemarin
I studied biology yesterday = saya belajar biologi kemarin.
see... just add " yesterday, last year, etc" and the sentence become a past tense, same goes to future tense...

I think that itīs quite different with Malay language, when I watching DVD usually I choose english sub instead of Malay (if there isnīt indonesian sub), because itīs similar and some Malay words have different meaning in Indonesia, I always get confused when I reading Malay sub ^_^;.

Well.. I'm also from Malaysia.
yep. The difference is on how the sounds of every phrase we utter.
It's really an obvious gap. lol!

@ lapin - that's...erk...not butt. But something opposite. It's a swear words. Do not use it in formal occasion. lol!

yeah... bahasa indonesia and malaysia have so much differences.
I used to live in Malaysia for 1 year and bahasa Malaysia really get me so confused
they do have some similarities but the meaning can be different.
like... the word awak in Indonesia = kita (we)
in Malaysia = saya (I)
so it s really confusing when watching movies with malaysian subs

They also have different words same meaning.
